I do not present myself as an expert in these areas. Quite the contrary- this blog comes from a regular person with a general perspective on the subject matter. There is so much to know and I will be a forever-learner in these fields. Nor do I claim to post anything original except for my own actual, personal and hands-on experiences in applying the advises, tips and information gathered from books, online resources, informational materials and most importantly the guidance from a cadre of Yorkshire Terrier breeder friends and acquaintances whose a combined knowledge total to numerous years of experience with the breed.
It is a fact that countless thousands of dogs are euthanized because no one wants them, or the owners were not prepared or lacked the commitment or may have given up to take care of them for some reason or another. Breeding dogs is always serious and should not be taken lightly. No one should just casually breed their Yorkshire Terrier. First and foremost and for each time, know and understand the reasons why you are breeding your Yorkie. A plan for the puppies on what to do with them is a must at the very onset. For each breeding, one must be prepared to properly house and care for the puppies if unable to place them in proper homes, and be prepared to take back older dogs should the homes they were placed with can no longer keep them.
There is no denying the sense of accomplishment, satisfaction and happiness that breeding Yorkshire Terriers can provide. As for myself, it is a challenge that I seriously and purposely embark on as a result of my love for the beautiful Yorkshire Terrier breed. It is an offshoot of an authentic desire to contribute to the overall effort of each and every reputable and responsible breeder whose goal in their breeding is to promote the betterment of the pure-bred Yorkshire Terrier.
This blog is being written for the would-be and novice hobby breeder like myself. I blog as I learn, and learn as I blog to navigate the different aspects of breeding, whelping and raising Yorkshire Terriers to be the pure-bred standard worthy to be vested the title of Champion in the show ring.
I dedicate this page to all those who have inspired, encouraged and helped me in this endeavor, and to all of you who love the Yorkshire Terrier breed.
